Where's Daddy?

Now that desktop publishing is commonplace, someone should offer personalized books for children. An example would be something along the lines of Where's Waldo with the child's picture inserted in Waldo's place. There could be pages for where's mom and where's dad too (I can already hear the jokes for the last one).

To create a great book, consider writing about what you already know. For instance, if you know a great deal about cars you can write a technical manual on repairs or maintenance. If you are more interested in fiction writing, you can take that same hypothetical car theme and integrate it into a book heavy in car details or whose action occurs primarily around cars. Using what you know creates a believable backdrop for the events of the story. Additionally, integrate people and stories from your own personal experiences. Familiarity with your books’ subjects will increase the flow of ideas and words. Incorporating this knowledge into your book will translate into a stronger piece of writing overall.

Self-discipline and good writing habits are necessary for an individual to be successful in writing their first novel. Most authors agree that establishing a daily writing habit is the most important aspect for success. Decide how much time you can devote to writing each day. One hour daily will suffice. Start with a one-paragraph summary of the story. Then work that idea into an outline. It is helpful to write a page describing each of your main characters. Finally, write and revise as necessary until you have a finished product that can be read by a neutral party to give you feedback.

When choosing a book as a gift for another person it is important to know what type of book might interest that individual. If the person likes mysteries the newest James Patterson book should be a good choice. If they like English history "The Greatest Knight" by Elizabeth Chadwick is an excellent choice. Other people like to read books that are listed on the best sellers list. Chances are they haven't purchased the book for themselves so it usually a good choice.

A book exploring the innate connections everyone has with each other on this earth, at our jobs, in our families, and in general. Could awaken people's awareness to unbiased consideration for everyone's attitudes, way of life, and feelings.

Print random pages at the end of suspense novels so the number of pages left in the book doesn't let on that the story is about to end.

A book/movie about what the world would be like if all countries had open immigration policies. Lots of them don't. It could be a totally different world!
