Any computer using a Windows operating system is bound to become sluggish after awhile. The best method for boosting speed is deleting unnecessary files. You can do this by emptying the recycle bin and using a PC cleaning tool weekly. Uninstalling unused programs speeds up a computer as well. To eliminate malware and optimize your computer’s performance, run a registry cleanup program daily. You should also tighten up files by performing a disc defragment every few months.

The Dorian Gray Computer Monitor

Control your stress now for a better you later.

The Dorian Gray computer monitor would have a running picture of how you'll look in the future if you maintain the stress level a sensor built into your mouse is registering. A camera on the monitor would combine your current appearance with the stress level to produce a dynamic picture of the future you. If you don't like what you see, you can relax and a less wrinkled version of you will appear. Kind of a visual biofeedback machine.

Mini-Me Mouse

There was a story on the news the other night about how toy manufacturers are trying to create toys that will get kids up and moving around to counter the claims that they're making our kids too sedentary. The example they showed had 2 kids watching themselves on the screen as balloons floated down on it. Each time they moved their hands and hit a balloon it popped.

The same technology could be used to create an invisible mouse invention. The camera would be focused on the spot on your desk where the mouse usually is. The program that would go with it could cause the radio buttons, check boxes, etc. on the screen to react when the fingers on your hand, converted into a miniature mouse pointer, tapped the desktop. If things were going really bad you could turn your hand palm up, extend its middle finger, and shoot a bird, deleting whatever was on the window that was currently active on the screen (maybe with an explosive sound effect). If you didn't want shooting a bird to equal delete, a program feature would let you change the hand signal to something else of your choosing, maybe having it do the same thing as clicking on the undo button does.

In places like offices, internet cafes and libraries computers are left on most of the day. When they're not in use put them to work in the background on distributed computing projects.

Program printers so they don't print a blank page if people inadvertently leave a blank page at the end of the document.

Why can't laptops automatically check and connect to the wifi on their own or at least the login screen without you lifting a finger when you walk in to a fast food joint or other place with wifi in it? When it recognizes the strongest signal by far originating from where you are. Duh. At least mine doesn't do it.
